The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Mohamed Osman Al-Rikabi has announced his ministry readiness to participate with the Ministry of Communications and Information Center in making bright future through the achievement of strategic goals in the field of sustainable development and improvement of the citizen's life. Dr. Al-Rikabi directed, in his address to the Digital Media Forum at the Ministry of Finance, entitled "Electronic Payment: Achieving Economic Reform and Enhancing National Capacities" held Wednesday, transformation to the knowledge economy to achieve a qualitative leap in the economic field, promising transparency and fair distribution of state resources to achieve a society based on equal opportunities and economic progress. The minister said that the electronic payment, which began with electronic collection and computation in all the states of the Sudan, has achieved several gains including time and distance saving, adding that all this is aimed at reaching e-government, reiterating that the end of December will be the last time to pay cash in government transactions. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Tahani Abdullah Attiyah affirmed the readiness of the telecommunications and information technology sector for the next stage, the electronic transformation and the closing of the door for dealing in cash, stressing that the citizen was able to cope quickly and interact with the transformation through submission to institutions of higher education and Haj, buying electricity and paying communication bills, revealing existence of four million users of these systems. The Director of the Banking Services Omer Hassan Omrabi said that the amount of money collected through electronic payment amounted to 1.2 billion pounds as liquidity entered the banking system, calling for the enforcement of the recommendation of the Minister of Finance to exempt electronic payment inputs from taxes to overcome the challenges, referring to the electronic payment methods development.
