President Bashir addresses the opening session of the Beja Congress party Conference
Khartoum, 8 Jan. (SUNA) - President of the Republic Omar Bashir on Monday addressed the opening sitting of the Beja Congress party's Conference which kicked off at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum, attended by leaders of political parties, civil society organizations and executive beside diplomats accredited to Sudan.
The President commended the Beja Congress party which he said observes its own rules and statute and holds to building the party from the grass root upwards in a democratic practice.
He said political parties reflect the symbolism of the democratic practices, saying political parties in the country should observe and follow the example of the Baja Congress party in democratic parties and adherence to Shura.
He said what is needed was a mature political practice without which the whole political process becomes a lame duck and that this reflect on the society's political, social, economic and cultural structures.
The president referred to the Sudan experience in the National Dialogue which was admired and appreciated by many a quarter expressing his hope that South Sudan which wanted to copy Sudan's experience would also come up with a national document that would be a point of convergence for the southern Sudanese.
He said it was imperative to preserve the security and stability and independence of the country, the Sudan, given that it was being targeted as the case with the whole region.
He said the Sudanese and the government has to preserve the independent and stability of the country and to stave off any harm that seek to undermine its sovereignty.
He said his government would commit to all the recommendations of the National dialogue and would see to it that the 2020 elections, as part of these recommendations, would be held in a reconciliatory climate and that the permanent constitution would be in place.
