Khartoum, Nov. 17 (SUNA) – The Minister of Defense, renewed Sudan's reliance on what he called an important positive step in the journey of the transitional period by signing the peace agreement, which constitutes sustainable peace. Major General Yassin noted that the agreement recently signed in Juba will open the door for entering new areas in the Sudan mine action program, provide an opportunity for more cooperation with partners and donors, and encourage bilateral and collective initiatives among the member states of the agreement. On his part, Yasser Arman, the leader at the Revolutionary Front, affirmed that the Juba Peace Agreement addressed the roots of the Sudanese problem and developed solutions to the chronic issues that were previous ignored. The 18th meeting of the member states of the (Ottawa) mine action agreement continued its work today under the chairmanship of Ambassador Osman Abu Fatmah, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Sudan in Geneva. Brigadier General Khaled Hamdan, the Director General of the National Mine Action Center, reviewed in press statements the efforts and initiatives presented by Sudan during its chairmanship of the agreement, referring to the coordination with the state of Chad to clean up the common border areas between the two countries. ta
