Prime Minister stresses importance of strengthening state's oversight role, mainly Chamber of Auditor General
The Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Kamil Idris, stressed the importance of strengthening the state's oversight role, particularly the role of the Auditor General's Chamber, noting the government's commitment to transparency and integrity in public work. Prime Minister inspected the progress of work at the Auditor General Chamber headquarters in Port Sudan on Sunday. He met with the Auditor General Salahuddin Mohamed Osman and the Chamber's staff, where he was briefed on the nature of the Chamber's work and the tasks it performs.
The Auditor General said, in press statements, that the meeting generally addressed all issues related to financial auditing, the Chamber's mandate, and its tasks. He also reviewed the chambr's roles in achieving the highest degree of technical efficiency, accuracy, and independence to preserve public funds and prevent encroachment. He added that he had briefed the Prime Minister on the performance and financial and accounting reports for the past years of all state institutions, as well as the work situation in the various states. He noted that the Chamber operates with complete independence and impartiality, noting that the Chamber is ranked first in independence among Arab countries, second in Africa, and seventeenth internationally, according to World Bank indicators.
