Prime Minister Kamil Idris Reaffirms Sudan’s Commitment to Strengthening Ties with Somalia

Prime Minister Kamil Idris reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to developing bilateral relations with Somalia during a meeting with the Speaker of the House of the People of Somalia, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nour, in Al-Madina. During the meeting, Idris expressed appreciation for the longstanding historical relations and the spirit of cooperation between the two countries, underscoring Sudan’s keenness to advance bilateral ties, expand areas of mutual interest, and develop a forward-looking vision for constructive cooperation between the two nations.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to strengthen and expand cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their peoples.
Discussions also addressed the importance of security and stability across the Horn of Africa, with both sides stressing the need to reinforce regional stability and cooperation across the continent.
For his part, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nour affirmed his country’s interest in developments in Sudan and expressed Somalia’s readiness to support Sudan and stand by it during the current circumstances. He also reaffirmed Somalia’s respect for Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The Somali speaker further stressed his country’s commitment not to allow its territory to be used for any threat against Sudan, reaffirming that Somalia, both government and people, stands alongside Sudan in overcoming the ongoing war. At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Idris thanked the Somali speaker for his country’s supportive positions and reiterated the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. He also referred to Somalia’s own experience with conflict, underscoring the importance of African unity and regional stability.
Both sides agreed to maintain communication and advance bilateral relations while strengthening cooperation at the regional and international levels in ways that serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
