TSC President Salutes Medical Cadres, Praises Their Role in Sustaining Healthcare Services

Salutes Medical Cadres

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, commended all medical and health personnel across Sudan for their resilience and sacrifices in delivering healthcare services to citizens under exceptionally difficult conditions.
Speaking at the State Health Ministers’ Forum held in Khartoum, the TSC President extended an apology on behalf of military personnel for instances of harsh treatment directed at medical staff in hospitals, acknowledging the need for greater respect and cooperation. He stated that the Ministry of Health, led by Minister Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, has earned widespread recognition and appreciation, lauding the sustained efforts by the minister and his team to expand healthcare services nationwide despite the country’s delicate circumstances.
The TSC President underscored that medical personnel have endured the horrors of war alongside the broader population, pointing to their significant contribution to operations in southern Khartoum. He noted that information provided by medical cadres regarding enemy movements and equipment played a decisive role in enabling the Armed Forces to secure victories in those areas. He reaffirmed that, in line with its long-standing traditions, the Sudanese Armed Forces do not target medical and health institutions, in contrast to what he described as systematic attacks by rebel militias on hospitals and healthcare facilities.
The TSC President stressed the importance of introducing meaningful financial allowances to support doctors and enhance job satisfaction, particularly for those serving in remote areas. He further affirmed that access to healthcare is a fundamental right for all citizens, including those residing in areas under enemy control, describing it as a core responsibility of the state. He also paid tribute to doctors working at the Turkish Hospital in Nyala for their perseverance in providing medical services despite harassment and hardship, attributing these challenges to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Concluding his remarks, the TSC President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the forum’s recommendations in a manner that meets citizens’ aspirations. He also highlighted the vital role played by military hospitals in delivering medical services, noting that their services extend beyond military personnel to all civilians in need, in fulfillment of their national duty.
