Social Development Sector reviews CEDAW
Khartoum, April 15 (SUNA) - The Social and Cultural Development Sector of the Council of Ministers reviewed at its meeting today, which was chaired by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Intisar Seghiroun, the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The convention was presented before the meeting by Minister of Social Development Ahmed Adam Bakheit. The convention includes provisions on basic freedoms and civil, political and cultural rights besides protection of women.
Meanwhile, the ministerial sector also reviewed the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa. BT/BT
