IMF affirms support to Sudan youth and women
Khartoum, June 30 (SUNA) – The Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva has described What Sudan has achieved with international financial funds and institutions to reach the stage of the Heavily Indebted Countries Initiative (HIPC) as “historic achievement”. The IMF Chief said her institution will continue supporting the Sudanese youth and women who led the country to this “historical change”. The IMF Director ,In a video recording on the IMF's website, sent "warmest congratulations to the government and people of Sudan on this historic achievement: liberating the country from the heavy burden of debt inherited from the past and obtaining important new financial resources from development partners to build the future”. Georgieva said that reaching this stage was a joint action between Sudan, the financial institutions and the countries that provided financial support and assistance to Sudan. IF/IF
