Khartoum, July 1 (SUNA) – Minister of Energy and Oil Engineer Jadain Ali Obeid has called for further consolidation of cooperation between Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan in the field of oil for the close bonds linking the two countries. The Minister was addressing activities of South Sudan Oil & Power conference, held Juba on June 29-30 with participation of ministers, oil companies operating in South Sudan and investors. The conference focused on such issues as available investment opportunities, energy projects, expediting exploration and production operations and the challenges facing oil industry in South Sudan. Jadain explained that Sudan is witnessing a great change after the glorious December Revolution, which allowed it to open up to the world and enabled the leadership to open the door wide to cooperation and remove all obstacles made by the former regime, and that the Sudan and South Sudan have deeply rooted relations as one people in two countries. He pointed out that oil industry is one of the strong mechanisms linking the two countries, referring to the current joint cooperation in the oil industry in the fields of exploration, production, consultancy, facilities, exchange of experiences and qualification of cadres.
