Forum for investment and trade opportunities between US and Sudan

Khartoum, July 9 (SUNA) - The Sudanese-American Friendship Association organized symposium under the title "Investment and Trade Opportunities between Sudan and America". The symposium organized in the framework of the Sudanese-American Friendship Association periodic activity, and was attended by the Commercial Attaché at the US Embassy in Khartoum, Michael Pennell, the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, a number of Banks and a number of the concerned specialists in the field. The head of the Sudanese-American Friendship Association, Sami Al-Ja’ali, noted that the symposium comes within a series of Sudanese-American cooperation forums organized by the association, indicating its discussion to the role of the American embassy in facilitating business between the Sudan-American sides, reviewing the advantages and incentives of the new investment law and the investment opportunities available according to the priorities of the state in various fields, commending the US embassy's concern with the symposium activities , and its clarification of many of the questions and inquiries that were received during symposium on the economic and trade relations between the two countries. Al-Ja’ali revealed that the association’s next forum will discuss issues of the law of partnership between the public and private sectors, agricultural investment, in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Investment, and the association's partners, with another forum on agricultural investment issues in Sudan. The Commercial Attaché at the US Embassy in Khartoum, Michael Pennell, in his address to the symposium indicated development of role of the attaché and the commercial office of the embassy, for the creation of a better environment for trade and economic transactions between the two countries to keep pace with the coming period, pointing to the modernization of the website, which indicates that there are no obstacles for economic cooperation and trade relations between the two countries. Mr. Bennell noted that the coming period will witness the organization of an investment conference on Sudan in America, in addition to the exchange of visits between business delegations in the two countries, and the participation in the exhibitions that were delayed by the Corona pandemic, asserting the embassy's keenness to support all initiatives and activities of the Sudanese- American Friendship Association. The symposium has also included a review on opportunities and areas of investment in Sudan, especially in the fields of agriculture, both plant and animal, mining and industry, introduced by Gusai Khalil of the Promotion and Agreements Department at the Ministry of Investment, and the role of banks in developing economic and commercial cooperation relations between the two countries after the removal of restrictions and the return of banks was reviewed by the Director of Marketing at Nile Bank Hussam Taj Al-Sir. ta
