Sudan Reaffirms Full Cooperation with OPCW, Denies Allegations of Chemical Weapons Use
The Chairperson of the National Committee Investigating the U.S. Allegations Regarding the Use of Chemical Weapons, Ambassador Idris Ismail, affirmed that the Government of Sudan has provided clear and specific responses to all inquiries raised. He stressed that the ongoing objective investigations completely refute any claim of denial or lack of cooperation. In his statement before the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) at its 110th session, under item 6 concerning the alleged use of chemical weapons, Ambassador Idris responded to two papers submitted by the Republic of Chad. He called on Chad to shoulder its regional responsibilities and to prevent the flow of weapons and fighters across its borders to the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia committing grave violations against the Sudanese people.
The Chairperson of Committee Investigating the U.S. Allegations Regarding the Use of Chemical Weapons concluded his statement by reaffirming that the Republic of Sudan will continue its full cooperation with the OPCW and its member states, in keeping with the high objectives of the Convention and in pursuit of a world free of chemical weapons.
