Sudan Participates in the 2nd Session of Arab Council of Ministers for Cyber security in RiyadhSudan took part with a high-level delegation headed by Eng. Ahmed Dirdiri Ghandour, Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, in the second session of the Arab Council of Ministers for Cybersecurity held recently in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of Sudan’s ongoing efforts to establish an integrated and secure digital environment. In a press statement to SUNA, Minister Ghandour said that the meetings discussed ways to enhance data sharing and regional cooperation to confront cybersecurity threats and to strengthen collective readiness for protecting the Arab digital space. He added that Sudan also participated in the 5th edition of the Global Cybersecurity Forum in Riyadh, which brings together governments, the private sector, and international organizations to shape a safer global digital order.
The minister explained that during the forum, the Global Initiative for Cyber Capacity Building was launched in partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United Nations. Sudan, he said, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its cybersecurity capabilities through investment in training and the development of digital infrastructure that protects individuals and institutions and supports national digital stability. He further noted that Sudan showcased its recent efforts in supporting Arab and international initiatives, particularly those related to child protection and women’s empowerment in cyberspace, in line with its vision for a fair and secure digital environment for all.
Eng. Ghandour revealed that the National Cybersecurity Authority has been approved by a decision of the Council of Ministers, noting that it will be officially announced in an upcoming press conference as one of the key institutional pillars of the new structure of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications in Sudan.
