Ministry of Energy Signs MoU with the Institute of Initiatives in Oil and Gas Technology of Russia
The Ministry of Energy and Oil on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Initiatives in Oil and Gas Technology of Russia, on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week being held during October 15 to 17. The MoU was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Eng. Mohamed Awad Al-Khair Mohamed Salih, and on behalf of the Russian institute by its Director General, Mr. Nikolai Kuznetsov.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the areas of standards and specifications in the energy and oil sectors, conformity assessment in related topics, and commercial activities within the oil and gas industry. The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy and Oil, Eng. Al-Mutassim Ibrahim, Sudan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mohamed Al-Ghazali Siraj, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Energy. Under the MoU, the two parties will form joint committees to implement the required standards and conduct international conformity assessments in the fields of energy and oil. The committee within the Ministry of Energy and Oil will follow up with the Russian side to prepare proposals on issues of mutual interest related to the development of conformity systems and standards in the oil and gas industry.
This agreement represents a positive step toward Russia’s participation in the development of standards systems and highlights the importance of cooperation with Russian technical experts, particularly in training engineers and technicians in this vital field.
