Justice Minister Reaffirms Sudan’s Commitment to Cooperation, Justice, and Legal Unity

Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif, who also chairs the 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, affirmed that the Council represents an important legal platform for enhancing legal and judicial cooperation among Arab states.
Minister of Justice praised Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Walid Al-Samaani, for his leadership of the previous session, commending the Kingdom’s valuable contribution to the Council and its rich experience in judicial and legislative fields.
The remarks came as Dr. Dirif chaired the opening session of the 41st Council meeting at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, in the presence of Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit and Arab justice ministers. He lauded the efforts of the Executive Bureau and the Technical Secretariat in preparing for the session, as well as the role of the Secretary-General and the League’s General Secretariat in advancing joint Arab work and promoting the rule of law by supporting judicial institutions across Arab countries — efforts that have strengthened Arab unity on the legal and judicial levels.
Dr. Dirif emphasized that Sudan, as chair of the current session, reaffirms its commitment to cooperation, the consolidation of justice, and the unification of legal visions, aiming to enhance integration and coordination within the framework of joint Arab action. He stressed the importance of this session, given the timing and the diversity of issues under discussion, which include external interventions, Arab security, and economic and social challenges affecting the unity and stability of Arab nations.
The Minister addressed the grave situation in Sudan, noting that the Sudanese people are facing an unprecedented aggression in their modern history. He condemned the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its mercenaries and supporters, including massacres against unarmed civilians, ethnic killings, looting of public and private property, forced displacement, and the destruction of infrastructure. “Every conceivable crime against humanity has been committed before the eyes of the world, broadcast live, without regard for international humanitarian law or basic human values,” he said, calling for the condemnation of these terrorist acts and for accountability for those responsible.
Dr. Dirif also touched on the plight of the Palestinian people, describing it as one of the enduring challenges confronting the Arab world in light of the ongoing acts of genocide against them. He praised the effective roles of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar for their valuable efforts toward achieving a just peace that upholds the rights of the Palestinian people. He concluded by reaffirming that the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice remains a vital and influential forum across legal and judicial fields, underscoring the importance of activating all its mechanisms to achieve deeper Arab legal integration.
