Al-Burhan affirms importence of Sudan-UN cooperation

Khartoum, Sept 7 (SUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdel Fat-tah Al-Burhan has affirmed Sudan’s readiness and desire to cooperate with the United Nations to realize Smooth democratic transition and comprehensive peace in the country. The TSC President who met, at his office, Tuesday the United Nations Under-Secretary for Peace Operations, Jean Pierre Lacroix in the presence of the Foreign Minister, Dr. Mari am Al-Sadig Al-Mahdi commended the great rol;e being played by the UN to support the efforts of the government of the transitional period to make a success th targeted political transition and realization of the comprehensive peace. Al-Burhan lauded the efforts of the UNISFA Forces and the role played by the UNAMID to maintain peace and stability in Darfur. The UN official, in press statements following the meeting, affirmed the continuation of the UN support to Sudan in different fields, adding that the meeting discussed the situations in Abyei area and means for supporting peace and stability there, referring to the role being played by Sudan and South Sudan to reach a political solution on Abyei.
