Wheat cultivation operations in Gezira Scheme kicked off

Medani, Nov. 3 (SUNA) - Governor of Gezira Scheme Dr. Omer Mohamed Marzouk has announced start of wheat cultivation operations for this agricultural season in a number of sections of the scheme. Large sectors of the Gezira scheme's farmers have expressed their full support for the decisions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdel- Fattah Al-Burhan, which he took recently to correct the course of the country's democratic transition. They stressed their readiness to meet those decisions with more production for all crops, especially wheat, which represents the strategic crop for the food of the people of Sudan. In this regard, the farmers commended the efforts of the management of Gezira Scheme and its role in addressing and overcoming all the problems facing them. It is worth noting that the areas to be planted with wheat crop amount to about 450,000 feddans for this season. BT/BT
