Al Burhan briefs envoy of President of South Sudan

Khartoum, Jan. 11 (SUNA) - President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan has praised the growing interest of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, in following up on the current political events, and for his appreciated role in supporting the peace and stability process through mediation, and finding a common base for dialogue between all components to reach a unified vision that achieves the aspirations of the Sudanese people. This came when Al-Burhan received at his office today, the envoy of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Adviser to Presidency Dr. Costello Garang Ring. Al-Burhan stressed during the meeting the need to improve trade and economic relations between the two countries and ways and means to support and develop them in a way that enhances the relations of the peoples of the two countries. His Excellency briefed the envoy of the President of the Republic of South Sudan on the overall current political situation, pointing to the transitional government's keenness to complete the institutions of the transitional period and to appoint a civilian prime minister. For his part, Dr. Costello Garang said that the meeting touched on the importance of reopening the crossings between the two countries, especially the railways line linking the towns of Babanusa -Wau with Port Sudan, and the need to activate the river and land transport movements between the two countries to facilitate the import and export process. He stressed that Sudan, with its experience in managing dialogue, is capable to overcome current issues and challenges. BT/BT
