Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in Ministerial Meeting on South South Cooperation

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq Ali participated in the Ministerial Meeting on South-South Cooperation, which was held in the Qatari capital, Doha, today, on the sidelines of the Fifth United Nations Conference of the Least Developed Countries. The Minister addressed the meeting, expressing his thanks and appreciation to Ms. Rabab Fatima, UN Under-Secretary-General & High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States for organizing the meeting.
Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq Ali pointed out that the conference comes in light of the challenges of the Corona pandemic as well as political and economic challenges and the climate crisis, which aggravated lack of national capabilities and created more obstacles to development in the least developed countries. The Minister reviewed the political developments witnessed by Sudan during the past two years and the structural reforms that have been implemented in the field of economy. He also stressed the necessity for the members of this conference to remain united in representing and promoting the interests of developing countries, striving for global peace and prosperity and looking for a more equitable and just world order in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter. The Minister also reaffirmed that the countries of the South have contributed to global growth in recent years by more than half and declared Sudan's solidarity and support for the principles of respect for justice and international obligations. He renewed Sudan's commitment to cooperate with the international community in facing the challenges of climate change and terrorism in all its forms and its commitment to international multilateralism led by the United Nations.
