Minister of Justice Affirms Rule of Law Prevalence
The Ministry of Justice received Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif, Minister of Justice, after he was sworn in before President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC). Dr. Dirif was received by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Huwaida Ali Awad Al-Karim, the Solicitor General of the Republic of Sudan, and a significant number of advisors and employees. At the outset, the Minister of Justice expressed his thanks and appreciation to TSC President and the Prime Minister for granting him this confidence, praying to Allah Almighty to make him be up to the task. He added, "We will do our best to carry out the task in the proper and optimal manner," stressing that this assignment, during this exceptional phase the country is going through, requires concerted efforts and coordination among the judicial bodies to achieve the rule of law.
The Minister of Justice stated that this assignment will serve as a gateway to achieving justice by strengthening coordination between judicial and law enforcement institutions. "We will work to make the rule of law prevail, which is one of the principles the Prime Minister referred to in his first address to the Sudanese people." He asserted. He also highlighted the directive issued by TSC President to strive to achieve a state governed by the rule of law.
The Justice Minister underscored equality before the law and that justice is a supreme value that people must see and feel through the rule of law, the enforcement of its provisions in all their dealings, the restoration of their rights, and the resolution of their grievances. His Excellency stated that they have a vision for the legal reform process in coordination with the judicial bodies, the Bar Association, law schools, and concerned parties. He reiterated his efforts to consolidate the Sudanese people's confidence in the justice and law enforcement institutions. He added, "We pledge to the leadership of the state and the Sudanese people that we will place the rule of law at the forefront of our priorities," indicating that the next phase requires everyone to work together to rebuild, restore life, secure citizens, and provide essential services.
In conclusion, His Excellency emphasized the endeavor to recommend the completion of the judicial institutions in implementation of the justice strategy adopted by the ministry.
