Dr. Wahbi Mokhtar Sworn In as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court
Dr. Wahbi Mohamed Mokhtar was sworn in on Tuesday before President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
The ceremony was attended by the representative of the Chief Justice of the Judiciary and TSC Secretary-General, Lt. Gen. Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghali Ali Yousif. In a press statement, Dr. Mokhtar underscored that the Constitutional Court is mandated to safeguard the constitution, public freedoms, and rights, in addition to overseeing the performance of the legislative, executive, and judicial authorities. He added that the role and jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court are purely legal, aiming to establish balance among the laws of the state.
