National Health Sector Strategy 2026–2030 Launched in Port Sudan
The Ministers of Health, Finance, and Social Welfare attended the opening session of a workshop launching the National Health Sector Strategy (2026–2030) in Port Sudan.
Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim stressed that the strategy seeks to ensure equity in access to health services, protect against epidemics, and strengthen medical staff and health insurance coverage.
Finance Minister Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim affirmed that investment in health is an investment in the national economy, pledging continued support for health projects and improved services.
State Minister for at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare Dr. Suliema reiterated her ministry’s commitment to coordinate with the health sector to safeguard citizens’ wellbeing and support post-war recovery efforts.
During the workshop, WHO representative Shibl Sohbani noted that the war had severely damaged Sudan’s health system. He stressed that the new strategy focuses on addressing urgent needs and strengthening resilience for recovery. He affirmed WHO’s commitment to provide technical support, mobilize international resources, and ensure sustainable funding, with priority on safe working conditions for health staff and quality services for mothers and children.
