Attorney General: Sudan’s statement before Human Rights Council documents militia crimes, urges ending the fact-finding mission
The Attorney General of the Republic of Sudan Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal stated that Sudan presented a comprehensive statement before the Human Rights Council documenting crimes committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, including sexual violence, forced displacement, genocide, and war crimes, noting that several cases have been referred to the independent Sudanese judiciary. She explained that Sudan called for ending the fact-finding mission and urged the international community to pressure the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to stop supporting the militia.
The delegation also met with the Council’s President, the High Commissioner, and Amnesty International to review measures facilitating justice, including the formation of female investigation teams and the removal of procedural restrictions.
