Kamil Idris at UN General Assembly: People of Sudan Exposed over the Past Three Years to Existential Threats due to RSF Militia's Crimes

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris said that the people of Sudan have been exposed over the past three years to existential threats due to the crimes of the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Dr. Idris added, in his speech before the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York Thursday, that these challenges forced Sudanese to leave their homes and country under the weight of systematic killing, torture, plundering, rape, humiliation, and the brutal devastation of all life components, all of which was deliberate in itself, as part of a comprehensive project to control Sudan, plunder its resources, and change its population demographics.
The Prime Minister affirmed that preserving the sovereignty of the state and its established national institutions is a top priority and an existential matter for the Sudanese people. He renewed his affirmation that civilian transition and democratic transformation under the leadership of the Civil Government of Hope and the establishment of peace will not be achieved without the existence and strengthening of these national institutions that preserve the sovereignty of the state and its territorial integrity. He called on the international community to work on stopping the flow of advanced lethal weapons to the terrorist RSF militia, condemning and criminalizing it, classifying it as a terrorist group, and halting the flow of mercenaries.
Dr. Kamil Idris continued that violating Resolution 1591 threatens the continuation of the war, prolongs it, increases civilian suffering, reduces the chances of reaching peace, and threatens the safety, unity, and stability of Sudan and the entire region.
