TSC President Meets African Union Representative in Sudan
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Tuesday with the African Union Representative in Sudan, Mohamed Beleish. The meeting was attended by the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Omar Siddig, and the Acting Director of the African Affairs Directorate, Ambassador Ahmed Youssef. Mohamed Beleish said, in a press statement, that he conveyed to TSC President the greetings of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Ambassador Ali Mahmoud Youssef, affirming his support and concern for Sudan's unity and stability. He added that his visit to Sudan came within the framework of exploring ways to achieve peace, security, and stability in Sudan. He noted that the meeting was fruitful, characterized by transparency and frankness, touching on the overall developments in Sudan.
Belaish expressed his hope that Sudan would be a model for crisis resolution in Africa, noting that the formation of an independent civilian government with national competencies is an important step toward alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people, improving services, and initiating the gradual reconstruction process to enable the displaced and refugees to return to their homes.
The African Union representative said, "It is commendable that the armed forces continue to defeat the rebellion and restore stability to Sudan." He called for the importance of adopting dialogue to resolve differences and overcome the bitterness of the past, in accordance with the agreement signed in Jeddah on May 11, 2023, which provides the basis for ending the war and paving the way for a serious dialogue among the people of Sudan.
