Sudan Welcomes UN Security Council's Rejection of Dagalo Militia's Announcement of Forming Parallel Government in Sudan

MOFA4

The Sudanese government has welcomed the press statement issued by the UN Security Council on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in which it declared its unequivocal rejection of the Dagalo Family Militia's announcement of establishing a parallel government in Sudan. The Security Council considered this move a direct threat to the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, affirming its unwavering commitment to Sudan's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, warning of the consequences of the actions of the terrorist militia and its political alliance, as they threaten the future of Sudan and the region as a whole. This came in a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Wednesday.
The Ministry stated that the Security Council recalled its Resolution 2736 (2024), in which it called on the Dagalo Family Militia to lift the siege on El-Fashir and cease fighting, and urged it to allow unhindered access for humanitarian aid.
Meanwhile, the Security Council expressed its deep concern over the attacks on humanitarian operations by the terrorist militia, calling on it to adhere to international humanitarian law and the principles of humanitarian action.
The Sudanese government also praised the rationale of the UN Security Council statement, which unequivocally condemned and rejected the actions of the Dagalo family's terrorist militia. It noted previous similar statements issued by regional and international organizations, the UN Secretary-General, friendly countries, and other parties, which reflect the international consensus rejecting the Dagalo family's militia and its political alliance.
The Sudanese government reiterated its firm commitment to preserving the country's safety, security, stability, unity, and sovereignty over its territory, and affirmed its readiness to work with the international community in accordance with the principles and laws that serve the interests of the Sudanese people.
