TSC President Praises Saudi Crown Prince’s Efforts to Address Sudanese Crisis and Achieve Peace

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander in Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel-Fattah Al Burhan, praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia for his initiative and efforts towards achieving peace in Sudan, noting that his discussion with U.S. President Donald Trump clarified the true situation in the country.
During his Sunday meeting with senior SAF officers ranked Major General and above attended by TSC Member and Assistant Commander in Chief General Yassir Al-Atta; TSC Member and Assistant Commander in Chief Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jabir; the Chief of Staff and his deputies; the Deputy Director General of Police Forces; the Deputy Director of the General Intelligence Service; and a representative of the Joint Forces. Al Burhan said that Sudanese citizens who have suffered from the war look upon the Crown Prince’s efforts with satisfaction and appreciation. He described the initiative as an opportunity to spare the country from destruction and fragmentation, adding: “We rely on this initiative and consider it the voice of truth and of the region, given that the security of the Red Sea concerns everyone.”
Al Burhan added: “We will engage with this initiative in a way that can end the war optimally, in a manner that satisfies all Sudanese.” He noted that many previous initiatives had been proposed but were mostly rejected because they allowed the rebels to remain part of the political landscape, which Sudan could not accept.
Al Burhan said that the Quartet initiative presented three proposals. The first, he said, should not have been presented to the people or publicly announced, as it contradicts the principles of the Sudanese state, the sacrifices of the Sudanese people, and the ambitions of the military. In response, Sudan has submitted a roadmap to the Quartet, as well as to friends and regional partners, outlining its vision to resolve the crisis. He explained that a ceasefire would need to be accompanied by several measures, including the withdrawal of the militia from all areas they entered after the Jeddah Agreement. This includes Zalingei, Al-Geneina, El Fashir, Nyala, and all other cities they entered, followed by regrouping in specific areas. This would allow Sudanese citizens to return to their areas, after which a Sudanese-led dialogue would determine the future of Sudan.
