Foreign Minister Affirms Sudan’s Commitment to Engaging in Efforts That Achieve Stability in Line with the People’s Aspirations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohy-Eddin Salim, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving a just peace and engaging in every effort that brings stability to the country, in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of citizens who have endured extensive suffering and violations at the hands of the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Speaking at the 45th briefing conference of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism organized today by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) in Port Sudan the Foreign Minister highlighted the government’s early peace initiatives following the outbreak of the war. He noted that the government participated in the Jeddah Platform in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as early as the second month of the conflict, stressing that the talks yielded serious and clear outcomes aimed at ending the war. He stated that the rebel militia obstructed progress and refused to comply with those outcomes, adding that the international and regional community failed to act in response to the militia’s withdrawal and did not exert pressure to compel it to honor its commitments. He stressed that the Sudanese people have rallied behind their army, which has fought its battle until liberating Al-Gezira, areas of Sennar, and Khartoum, and is now advancing toward Kordofan with the Armed Forces and their supporting units achieving one victory after another.
The Minister underscored that the unified position of Sudan its people, government, and army is to reject any proposals imposed on the country without consultation or regard for its views. He affirmed that Sudanese citizens refuse to call the militia by any name other than its true designation, stressing the need for the international and regional community to classify it as a terrorist militia and to address the involvement of its foreign mercenaries fighting Sudanese civilians, in accordance with international laws and norms.
Ambassador Salim praised the efforts of Sudanese communities abroad regarding the war, noting that their advocacy has produced positive results by countering misinformation, exposing the true nature of the violations committed by the militia, and shedding light on the countries supporting these abuses.
