UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Visits Sudan
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Volker Türk, arrived in the country Wednesday, on a two-day official visit. He was received at Port Sudan International Airport by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Ali Khidr Ali.
The High Commissioner scheduled to hold a series of meetings with a number of officials concerned with the human rights file. The High Commissioner's visit aims to assess the humanitarian and human rights situation in Sudan. He will also visit Northern State, including Al-Affadh and Al-Dabah shelter centres.
The High Commissioner will hold a press conference at the conclusion of his visit to Sudan.
