UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Concludes Visit to Sudan
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk concluded his four-day visit to Sudan today. During the visit, he met with several officials responsible for the human rights portfolio and also toured Northern State, visiting Al-Affadh and Al-Dabbah shelter centres. He was seen off at Port Sudan International Airport by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Muawiya Othman Khalid, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Head of the Legal Sector Ali Khidr.
At the conclusion of his visit, the High Commissioner held a press conference at Port Sudan Airport, highlighting crimes committed by rebel militias and calling for a focus on the shared interests of the Sudanese people.
