Growing Support and Promising Projects: Outcomes of Prime Minister’s Meeting with Afrexibank
Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Al-Tayib Idris met has met with Professor Benedict Oramah, Chairman of the Board of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, at the premises of Sudan Permanent Mission to the UN in New York.
The meeting was attended on the Sudanese side Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Ayesir, Ambassador Idris Faragallah, and Second Secretary Heba Jaafar Abu Haj.
The Vice President Ms. Kanayo Awani, Managing Director Mr. Olaranti Doherty, and several senior bank officials, from the Afreximbank side.
The discussions focused on ways to enhance cooperation between Sudan and the Afreximbank in the coming period.
The Prime Minister praised the Afreximbank’s achievements across Africa, reaffirming Sudan’s commitment to removing impediments that may hinder the Bank’s role in financing development projects, expressing appreciation for its continuous support to Sudan.
For his part, Professor Oramah reiterated the Afreximbank’s commitment to working with the Sudanese government, noting ongoing arrangements with the relevant authorities. He also announced upcoming development projects in Sudan, particularly in the electricity sector, underlining Sudan’s pivotal role in the African continent.
Oramah emphasized the importance of further developing the partnership between Afreximbank and the Sudanese government and expanding it to broader horizons in the forthcoming period.
