Jabir inaugurates specialized pediatric unit at Italian Peace Hospital in Khartoum
Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lt. Gen. (Navy, Eng., Advisor) Ibrahim Jabir, accompanied by Khartoum State Wali (governor) Ahmed Osman Hamza and Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, attended today the inauguration of a specialized pediatric unit at the Italian Peace Hospital in Soba.
The Minister of Health praised the role of the Italian Emergency Organization, which has been providing free medical services in Sudan for over twenty years, describing it as a bridge of peace and communication between peoples. He noted that the hospital continued operating during the war, treating more than 18,000 children, and still provides free essential services including treatment, diagnostics, nutrition, immunization, and cardiac surgeries.
The opening of the new pediatric unit responds to urgent needs in Soba and southern Khartoum.
The Minister also outlined plans to expand medical services and establish new centers, affirming the ministry’s commitment to support the organization’s work. For his part, the Wali of Khartoum State expressed his appreciation for the hospital staff, announcing projects to improve the surrounding infrastructure, including rest areas for patient companions, electricity, and road access. He also thanked TSC Member Ibrahim Jabir for his continued support in creating a proper healthcare environment in the state.
