Sudan Extends Opening of Adré Border Crossing for Aid until December 31
The Government of Sudan has decided to extend the opening of the Adré border crossing with Chad for the passage of humanitarian aid convoys operated by international relief organizations, starting from September 1, 2025, until December 31, 2025. In a press statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation explained that this step comes as a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need across Sudan, and as a gesture of goodwill to facilitate humanitarian work and coordination with relief agencies operating in Sudan, in accordance with international humanitarian law and relevant regulations.
The Ministry affirmed that the extension of the opening of the Adré crossing coincides with the tragedy in Tarsin village, Jebel Marra, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians. It further noted that while the Government of Sudan mourns the victims, it looks forward to the swift response of brotherly and friendly countries, as well as humanitarian organizations, to provide the required assistance to citizens and to take advantage of the extension of the opening of the Adré crossing to redouble efforts in meeting urgent needs in coordination with the concerned state.
